History
The Archeological Park of the Ancient Kaulon
In the Archeological Park of Monasterace it has been brought to light the city of Kaulon, ancient colony of Magna Grecia. Thanks to continous archaeological excavations were discovered artifacts of great historical and cultural value over the years.
The numerous archaeological finds from excavations carried out on site are on display in the adjacent museum. Significant are two mosaics of exceptional workmanship, both depicting a dragon, one of which, over 25 square meters in size, is considered one of the greatest ancient mosaics of Europe.
